Retro Bar 2nd August 2009

Well it was with great trepidation that I swigged my beer and stepped up to the mic at 7.25pm,curious as to what kind of reception this Old Punk was gonna recieve from the mostly young crowd.

I need not have worried, the cheering and clapping followed each poem and I left the stage absolutely buzzing !

Can't wait to do it all again soon, bigs thanks to Andy and Bev and the rest of the TNS crew for giving me the opportunity to cut my teeth along with some of the excellent local Punk Rock bands they support.

OLD PUNX

Old Punx never die
We just stand at the back
Quietly sipping our Pernod and Black
But not through a straw
Like we did when we were kids
'Cos someone told us
We'd get pissed more quickly

Old Punx never die
We just stand at the back
Wondering whether it would be worth it
Jumping into the pit
And getting kicked to shit

Old Punx never die
We just stand at the back
Often bemoaning
How Punk just ain't what it used to be
Back in the day

Old Punx never die
So lets not stand at the back
Lets get down with the kids
With theirr floppy hair
And skinny jeans
And show 'em whats Punk is really about

Old Punx never die

Mr POLICEMAN

Mr Policeman
You're dancing on my head
Mr Policeman
You're beating me to death

We've the right to peacful protest
But it's around for all to see
The sickening sight of
Ongoing police brutality

Your batons drawn at will
Going in for the kill
Herding us into corners
Did you ever think to warn us

Innocent people beaten
For all the media to see
The Red Tops in the morning
Will label it 'Anarchy'

The sorrowful deaths of so many
Will there ever be an end
I can't even photograph you
Beating shit out of my friend

I don't wanna be another fatality
Police brutality
It's a reality
